Honda Car Maintenance
Honda Car Maintenance
Auto mechanics hail that Honda cars require less service repair and maintenance costs over other vehicles. Comparing prices you will not find much difference in other mid sized vehicles. Real money comes into play however when you have a vehicle that will save you on cost of repairs. Its too bad that the assertion is impossible to actually prove, albeit many mechanics testify to its validity. The record keeping required to all repairs, parts, etc is just too magnanamous to come up with such statistics. The life of vehicles used to be looked at as 3-5 years and now life of the vehicle is expected to be closer to 10 years. The overwhelming people "in the know" seem to state that Hondas are reliable and deteriorate less rapidly. It does not prove unequivocably that Hondas are really better. The debate will rage on however as automobile owners and people that service them voice their opinions.
Remember that today the full service fuel stops are pretty much gone. You have to be the one that knows how and when to check many things that require attention to your vehicle as you drive many miles and your car becomes older. Preventive maintenance is akin to smart vehicle ownership. Frequent checks are fundamental to catching something little your vehicle needs done before it becomes a major problem and expensive headache. Look under that hood of your Honda and do it often is good advice. Time spent on your Honda maintenance will pay you back.
Following these simple monthly checks will alert you to potential problems that can be dealt with
before you get stranded or end up paying for expensive auto repairs.
Check Your Honda's Fluids. There are strict manufacturer recommendations for all types of fluids used and their fill levels to be maintained.
You can use regualar 30W oil sold in the United States and be safe using most of the
products available. There are synthetic oils and coolants available.
More caution must be taken when using other hydraulic oils. Steering, brake, transmission, and
differential fluids must meet the precise specifications for your vehicle. Follow your owners
manual to the letter in regard to these type fluids.
Check the oil when the engine is running for a while. Differences in temperature
will result in different readings as oil expands and contracts. Let the engine run for
about 10 minutes before checking the oil.
Regular oil changes according to manufacturers specs are very important to keep your engine in a good shape. Usually it is recommended to change the oil, filter and lubrication be done at 3000 mile intervals.
Washing and waxing your car regularly will add to its appearance and life and help prevent corrosion.
Try to take care of even minor concerns that come up from time to time. Usually putting them off
can lead to a more expensive repair later on.
Follow your owners manual for prescribed maintanence and intervals of service. Honda car maintenance is no more difficult, expensive or time consuming than any other vehicle on the market.
Use only original parts.
