Honda SUV's
SUV models for Honda are the full sized pilot and the CRV, which now falls into
The Crossover classification. Honda SUV's have been leaders in the market for decades.
Their style and ratings have always been highly respected. 2009 is
not an exception to this fine tradition of automobile manufacturing. The company offers
both a full sized Pilot and a smaller sized CRV to fit most every buyers needs.
First the new 2009 Pilot is a new vehicle. Top to bottom and every piece of
sheet metal and glass. It is a larger Pilot in 2009 and it is now designed to make
maximum use of interior space. Fortunately after this redesign it did not
gain any weight or lose performance or fuel efficiency.
The Pilot is a comfortable "eight" passenger vehicle which means four adults and
four children fit comfortably. The cargo space in the rear means you do not
have to fold any seats to make use of it for groceries or your cooler. The conveniences
abound with six cup holders and eight cargo door pockets. The vehicle is able to
carry a 4x8 foot sheet laying down flat which gives you a good idea of interior
roominess.
Comparing Pilot so far as flexibility and fuel economy there is little that sets it
apart as truly superior in any one aspect. The vehicle is however a balanced Honda
SUV with better performance in a number of areas. There is definitely good carrying
and cargo space, road handling manners and overall comfort wrapped up into the package.
Choice for a full sized Honda SUV, the Honda Pilot will fill the bill very adequately.
The Honda CRV in 2009 has grown up a bit and looks more like a higher dollar crossover.
This has added to its already popular standing in the smaller SUV vehicles.
The latest is totally redesigned and re-engineered for this current model year.
It delivers a much-improved ride and noticeably better and responsive handling.
The new four cylinder powerplant utilizes variable intake valve timing which
boosts horsepower, torque and acceleration.
Compared to earlier model CRV's this Honda SUV has more ample room in the front seating
area and somewhat more room in the cargo area. The instrumentation is very logically
arranged. Three models with the CRV make a variety of choices for the consumer. There is
a basic LX, then a more midrange EX, to the leather appointed more luxurious EX-L. Also available is
a navigation system that has a rearview video camera providing easier and safer back ups.
All models have four doors and seat five. With the EX-L you can also order dual zone
climate temperature controls, along with an 8 way power adjustable driver's seat. The
vehicle has again incorporated a superb audio system.
Real time all wheel drive is available on all CRV models. The fuel figures are an
EPA 20/27 per gallon city/highway.
